OIT gave CoC an extra 60 days to allow OIT Zimbra migrated users an opportunity to address any mail older than 30 days in their Junk or Trash folders. The script will be activated on Thursday, February 19, 2009 to begin purging expired mail in these two folders.

Subject: OIT Zimbra Trash and Junk folder policy

Good Morning,

The migration of the CoC Zimbra mail accounts to the OIT Zimbra service was completed last night.

I would like to make you aware of a policy that OIT has in place for ALL campus Zimbra users that will affect your trash and junk mail folders. Mail older than 30 days that resides in either folder is removed by an automated script each evening. If you do not want the policy to affect mail in these folders, then please create a folder to stage mail that you consider to be ?not trash or junk scheduled for pickup?. A ?mulch or scrap? folder may be a good alternative. :-)

The good news is that we have asked OIT to move migrated users into a separate group that the script will not be run against for now. OIT has given us this temporary solution until Tuesday, December 16th. This should allow you time to create the new folders and move any mail before the script becomes active again on Wednesday, December 17th.

Thank you,
