WHAT'S HAPPENING?
The social media site LinkedIn reported that millions of passwords have been compromised.

WHY IS IT HAPPENING?
One or more malicious hackers breached LinkedIn's password database and posted a file with hashed passwords. Further details regarding this incident are available at the following URL's:

WHO IS AFFECTED?
It's been reported that over 200,000 passwords have been cracked so far.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
LinkedIn account holders should change their passwords as soon as possible and not wait for LinkedIn to notify them. Users who used the same credentials on any other sites should change the password on those sites as well.

TSO recommends the use of strong, unique passwords, along with a password manager to keep track of them, so that a compromised account for one system does not lead to compromised accounts for multiple systems. CoC Information Security Manager Keith Watson has created a presentation Password Management using KeePass with further information.
