WHAT?S HAPPENING?
GTRI will begin to migrate the College of Computing?s Microsoft Exchange 2007 mail services to Exchange Server 2010.
WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?
Friday, August 6, 2010 at 7:00 PM through Saturday, August 7, 2010 at noon.
WHY IS IT HAPPENING?
To increase service levels while at the same time reducing support costs by nearly 40%.
One of the biggest features in Exchange Server 2010 is Outlook Web Application?s (OWA) multiple browser support. This is great news for our non-Windows users. Features include:
- A consistent inbox, calendaring, and contacts experience across the PC, browser and phone.
- Integrated conversation view bringing together information across all folders, inbox and sent and deleted items.
- Mail Tips to notify users about potential mistakes before they send e-mail.
WHO IS AFFECTED?
Exchange email and Blackberry users, because Exchange email and Blackberry Enterprise Services will be unavailable during this period.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
No user action is required. We anticipate that Blackberry devices may have to be reconfigured, but TSO Staff will be making rounds on Monday, August 9th to resolve any problems that may occur.
