WHAT’S HAPPENING?
There was a campus power outage that began around 8:20am impacting both the College of Computing Building (CCB) and the Klaus Advanced Computing Building (KACB). TSO has identified that a number of Virtual Machines housed on the College's VM infrastructure that went down. Some servers in CCB 247 also lost power; most recovered gracefully. TSO staff are continuing to identify and troubleshoot remaining servers/issues.
WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?
The power outage began at 8:20am on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024 and power in most building were restored by 9:00am. VMs were restored by 10:20am. Remaining servers are still coming online.
WHY IS IT HAPPENING?
Unannounced maintenance at one of the Power Plants on campus resulted in a disruption to power services at starting at 8:20am which impacted telecom and network services in various campus buildings.
WHO IS AFFECTED?
Users of the servers housed in CCB and Klaus data centers. Desktop owners in CCB and KACB buildings may also be impacted.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
Nothing at this time. TSO will send an update once the data centers are fully powered on. For CCB and KACB desktop users, you may need to power them back up when returning to campus.
