To reduce our exposure to the CERT advisory notice (see http://support.cc.gatech.edu/utilities/alerts/glyptal-patch), firewall rules were applied to zeon.cc.gatech.edu, one of the CC DNS servers. This resulted in blocked DNS queries to Outlan machines for that DNS server starting at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, July 9, 2008. The DNS server solaria.cc.gatech.edu was not affected. The problem was identified and corrected, and full DNS availability for Outlan was restored at 12:10 PM on July 9.
