Many users have noticed sluggish problems with their mounted network home directories off of the campus Samba servers (smb.prism.gatech.edu), most noticeably in Linux the past couple of weeks. The problem is stemming from DNS load balancing of network traffic to the Samba servers. OIT has been working on the problem with the vendor to find a solution to the problem. OIT has put in place a temporary fix that has relieved some of the slowness.
