There was a chilled water outage in the CCB Data Center 247/HPCF.
WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?
Began 11:45PM November 11, 2009, currently ongoing.
WHY IS IT HAPPENING?
At 11:45PM November 11, 2009, several GTISC servers reported high temperature alerts. GT Facilities was contacted and TSO personnel began shutting down machines to reduce heat load. At 1:45AM November 12, 2009, the temperature began to go back down to acceptable levels, but a decision was made to keep several GTISC machines and ara.cc.gatech.edu off until morning.
WHO IS AFFECTED?
Students, faculty and staff using the Sun Global Desktop (ara.cc.gatech.edu) or the Sith and Hebrides clusters.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
Nothing. The powered down systems will be brought back online as soon as is possible. This notice will be updated with any further information at that time.
